Denver 2010

Beckett flew for the 3rd time in an airplane over to visit his Nana and Papa in Denver! He hadn't seen them since he was 3 months old, so you can imagine how excited he was to show off for them at such a grown up 11 months! :) Beckett spent his time playing and laughing with his Papa, got spoiled with tons of attention by his Nana and followed his cool Uncle Brett around everywhere! Beckett also spent his first Valentines Day with his Auntie Jen and Uncle Joel at the Tivoli Lodge up in Vail! Best of all, just before we left for the airport, Beckett got to hang out on his Papa's new motorcycle! It was a great trip with tons of fun memories! Here are some Denver highlights...

Beckett spends the night at Seattle Children's Hospital AGAIN!

Beckett spent another night in the hospital due to a what doctors think was an atypical Febrile Seizure as a result of a lung infection. Beckett was with his dad when he suddenly zoned out, stopped breathing and began turning blue. We called 911 and when the paramedics arrived, they supplied him oxygen and took his vitals. He had a temperature of 104.3 and was slowly coming back to consciences. We then opted to transport him ourselves to Overlake Hospital and because his seizure symptoms were not typical, he was transfered by ambulance over to Seattle Children's. He was then treated, tested and kept overnight for observation. It was another scary ordeal but luckily he's on the mend! He did great in the hospital and we were so thankful everything turned out alright!

Beckett's First Overnight...

I never would have thought Beckett's first overnight away from home would have been when he was just 10 months old, or that it would be at Seattle Children's Hospital. This incident was by far the scariest moment of my life. As a mom there is nothing worse than having your child hospitalized and feeling helpless because you have absolutely no control over the situation. To make a long story short, Beckett was hospitalized due to respiratory distress and ended up having to stay 2 nights in the hospital. He was diagnosed with confirmed case of RSV which resulted in Bronchiolitis. RSV is a virus that can cause serious reactions in young infants and may even lead to death. Beckett was not your typical victim of RSV as he was a full-term baby, big for his age, and quite strong. What we think happened was that he had a weakened immune system from being sick the previous week and was exposed to RSV most likely from his daycare. While he's currently recovering from an ear infection and still sounds quite congested, Beckett finally got his little spark back and seems to be doing much better! Thank you to all who kept us in your prayers and sent messages of love and support! What a blessing to know we have such wonderful friends and family! A HUGE thank you to Beckett's grandma who met us at his doctors appointment that afternoon, went with me to the hospital, and stayed with us through the 7 1/2 hours in the emergency room. Beckett loves his grandma and we are very thankful for all her love and support! Thanks Mom! :)

Messy Eater!

Over the last couple of months Beckett has been eating the majority of his meals all by himself! He does not like to be spoon fed and will let you know by smacking your hand (full of baby food) away and making an even bigger mess! This may come as a surprise but I can be obsessive compulsive in spurts. One day my house is a disaster and the next it is spotless and everything has to be in its place. Feeding Beckett is where my obsessive compulsion kicks in to overdrive. Normally I have to feed him bite by bite and if any gets on his face, I immediately wipe it off. I don't know why I do this since I know babies are supposed to get messy. They learn about their food through texture and sensory and it builds their fine motor skills but now that Beckett would rather feed himself, I have had to learn to let go and let him enjoy his meals. His doctor says that eventually he will gain the skills to feed himself with utensils and develop his table manners but until then, I think this little guy is having the time of his life!

Trouble is on the way...

Beckett had a fantastic first Christmas! One of his favorite toys that came direct from Santa's workshop was this block cart. This afternoon, I was working on the computer and felt something bump me in the back. I turned around and suddenly realized that Beckett had gotten his cart all by himself and walked over with it! I was shocked!! Matt and I helped him walk with it a few days ago, but today he was so into pushing it around that when it got stuck or hit an object, he would get mad. What you don't see in the video is his huffing and puffing from walking so much and/or the many times he demanded that we set it up for him so he could walk! I sense that life is about to get a little more exciting for Beckett in the near future. As for Matt and I... We better look out! :)

Portland Visit

We made a quick trip to Portland the day after Christmas so that Beckett could play with his cousins! Bailey is such a helper and Cameron and Beckett will soon be running all over! Since Cam and Beckett are only 5 days apart in age, all of us are looking forward to watching them grow up together!
